At one time I thought centers were important and in Kindergarten I had table
activities that children worked on with partners as well as the normal
kindergarten centers. Now I think that centers such as word work and
reading the room are important for first and second graders, but feel that
they should not take the place of extended periods of time for children to
    read and write.
