Continuing Education Units

Colorado State University offers continuing education units (CEUs) to those who register through the Online Plus Web site and access the materials for select Annenberg Learner courses through CSU's learning management or "RamCT" system. Once participants view the complete sequence of video sessions, review the support materials and interact with the discussion questions, sample problems and activities therein, they will complete a Review Questionnaire which documents their completion.

Registering and Fees

To register, please click on the course in which you are interested from the list below. This will bring you to the online registration of the Colorado State University Online Plus. Tuition is currently $50 per CEU or $75 for 1.5 units, $125 for 2.5 units and $150 for 3 units. You can call Colorado State toll free at 1-877-491-4336 with any questions.

Completing Course Work

Students will receive an e-mail from Online Plus confirming their registration and providing an eID and password they will use to log into the RamCT system. Accessing the materials via RamCT demonstrates that the student has reviewed the support materials and viewed the videos. Students can complete the work at their own pace, and will have six months from their date of enrollment to finish. Participants will be enrolled on RamCT and access the course materials through this gateway site. They will be expected to engage with all the course materials including videos, support materials, website interactives, wrap-around activities, etc. but will not be required to submit homework, papers, projects, etc. A discussion forum will be available to participants as an outlet for ideas and peer interaction, but will not be monitored. A participant Review Questionnaire will serve as the end point of the non-credit course and will document their participation. Once the participant has completed this survey/test form, he/she will notify the course monitor who will review and send a certificate documenting the CEUs.

Credit Limit

You cannot receive CEUs for the same workshop or course twice or for those for which you have previously earned graduate credit. Please save email confirmations and instructions you will receive after enrolling online for your records and future reference.

How soon after registering can I receive CEUs?
Within 24 hours after registration, you will receive a confirmation email with your RamCT eID and password and can access the course materials. As each CEU generally represents 10 hours of interaction (watching the series videos, reviewing the support materials, engaging with online interactives, etc.) your own pace will determine your completion time. You have up to six months from your date of registration to complete the participant review survey and request your CEU certificate.

I have already viewed some of the videos and support materials directly through the Annenberg Learner website. How can I earn CEUs without repeating this work through the RamCT system?
Please contact Ms. Barry Carroll at (970) 491-1124 or Barry.Carroll@colostate.edu to discuss your prior work and the steps necessary to earn CEUs.

How will the CEUs be granted? Will I get a paper certificate?
Once you complete the participant review survey and notify the monitor that you are finished with the course, a paper certificate with be mailed to the address given when you registered for the course

Are the CSU Online Plus CEUs approved by my state/school district?
Each school district and state has different policies and procedures in place for the acceptance or denial of continuing education units. Some school districts have different names for CEUs, such as Professional Development Units or Points (PDPs or PDUs) but can readily transfer CEUs based on the formula that each CEU carries 10 hours of participation. Many state departments of education will now accept continuing education units in lieu of transcripted credits for renewal of a teaching license. Please check with your district's personnel office before registration to confirm that you will be able to use the CEUs that you earn for the purpose that you intend.

What's the difference between graduate credit and CEU for the same course? What is the difference in the amount of work?
Graduate credit is officially documented on a Colorado State University transcript. Each semester graduate credit earned carries the expectation of fifteen hours of interactive time plus additional outside time for homework, papers, projects, etc. This work must be documented through coursework submitted and is reviewed/graded by university instructors.

Completing continuing education units earns participants a paper certificate from CSU's Division of Continuing Education, Online Plus. Each CEU earned represents approximately ten hours of time spent interacting with course materials through the RamCT portal. No homework, papers or projects are submitted and participant work will not be reviewed or graded.

Will other Annenberg Learner courses be available for CEUs?
Yes. Colorado State University added five new courses for CEUs in the first quarter of 2014. CSU will work collaboratively with Annenberg Learner to continuously evaluate the CEU program. The plan is to make between 3-5 additional courses available for CEUs per semester.
