Migrating Earthworms

Report
the FIRST Earthworms you see this Spring to Journey North!
|
Even though
they only travel a few feet, earthworms undergo a "vertical" migration
each spring after the ground thaws. The appearance of the first earthworms
is a welcome sign of spring, and is often closely tied to the arrival
of the first robins.
1. In his book North With the Spring, Edwin Way Teale describes this unusual
migration.Read his description so
you'll know what to watch for. Also learn about worm biology and identification
on these great Web sites:
2. Keep
your eyes open for migrating worms!
3. When you see your FIRST earthworms of the season, please report to Journey
North.
