Geometry Session 4: Parallel Lines and Circles
 

In this session, you will use dynamic geometry software to construct figures with given characteristics such as perpendicular segments, parallel segments, and segments that are equal in length. You will also use this software to discover properties of parallel lines and circles. You will look at some formal geometric definitions, but the emphasis will be on the discovery of properties and relationships among geometric figures.

Learning Objectives

In this session, you will do the following:

Learn how to use dynamic geometry software to construct geometric figures and explore their properties

• 

Learn about the properties of angles formed when a pair of parallel lines is cut by a transversal

• 

Learn to use the properties of circles to make different constructions

• 

Consider the advantages and disadvantages of using dynamic software in studying geometry
