Although I am relatively new to Ohio, there are quite a few places I've found while staying home with my boys that could be used to teach energy flow.† We have numerous Metro Parks that are wonderful!† The have wetlands and woods that you could explore with students and discuss food chains.† The park staff have very engaging programs for children.† We also have many farms that we could explore and discuss energy flow.† The zoo is a great place to visit†and discuss food chains.† Columbus has a beautiful conservatory if you wanted to talk about energy flow in plants.† We also have a science museum called Cosi which often has exhibits that could be tailored to discuss this topic.† It's exciting to think about how to make this topic come alive for students through field trips.
